Battle of the blogs has been nominated for several Bloggers Choice Awards, including Best Political Blog and Best Blog of All Time. But as Jessica Valenti explains, not everybody is happy about this:

Apparently this has pissed off a ton of anti-feminists (who lovingly call themselves “men’s rights activists”), so they’ve flooded the awards with votes for Feministing under Most Obnoxious Blogger and Worst Blog of All Time.

On one of their forums that I sometimes peek into, they’re calling this their latest form of “activism” to spread the word about the evils of feminism and, of course, to “give the bitches something to whine about.” They’re taking it so seriously, in fact, that they’ve warned to “be careful about feminist spies” and talked about taking the action “underground.”

Some people have gone as far as to start an anti-feminist parody site called

Young, middle-class, college-educated white women are rarely given the opportunity to speak on our own behalf on issues that affect our lives and futures because we’re so horribly and obviously oppressed. provides a platform for us to comment, analyze, whine about our unending victimization, and (best of all) COMPLAIN CEASELESSLY!

The worst thing about this site is that it’s extremely good. The creators have gone to a huge amount of effort in deriding these “overindulged, priggish nutjob white girls” who dare to ask for respect and equality. They’ve produced a very good parody of Jessica’s ballsy writing style and are using it to make her and her fellow bloggers look like whiny man-hating harpies.

As Jessica has noted, has pitted itself against in the Blogger’s Choice Awards, so it’s time to get voting. I don’t think I need to tell you which one I’m rooting for.
