Bitch magazine relaunches website

Fans of Bitch magazine will be pleased to know it has updated its website, with a new blog section and lots and lots of lovely content.

The old Bitch website was a bit on the sparse side, and the blog was brilliant – but not updated that often, as far as I could tell. The re-launch is a big improvement, particularly because they are republishing old articles from the magazine – such as an interview with Julia Serano, author of Whipping Girl and this feature on the politics of Mills & Boon-type romance novels. They even have an RSS feed for this section, so you can re-read features as they pop up.

One single blog has been replaced by a whole series, all of which look set to be pretty interesting. I have to call attention to this post about a new craze – ‘anal bleaching’. Yep, you did read that right, and no, it turns out that there is no part of your body that someone, somewhere isn’t busy thinking up ways to make you feel bad about and then selling you something to ‘improve’ it. (Can I just say as well, putting strong bleaching chemicals on sensitive areas of the body? Perhaps not a brilliant idea!)

I have to admit, I was a bit miffed to read this only weeks after the inimitable Dan Savage proclaimed it a myth on his sex-advice podcast. But then I checked, and he has already admitted this was “wishful thinking”.
