New review: Gravity

The nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2014 were announced on Wednesday and Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity is nominated in 11 categories, including for Sandra Bullock as Leading Actress.

Much has been written about the film, with many reviewers focussing on its state-of-the-art 3D presentation. In The F-Word’s first 2014 film review, Katie Masters offers her feminist take on Sandra Bullock’s space adventure.

Katie remains impressed with Gravity‘s scientific accuracy (most of the time!) and mesmerised by breathtaking shots of the Earth from orbit. Despite having some qualms, she hopes that “Dr Stone will be joining the ranks of other female sci-fi heroines”.
