A big thank you to Melanie Jeffs and Tracey Plowman, our guest bloggers for April, as the month comes to an end. Please welcome our guest bloggers for May, Amity Reed and Lara Williams.
Amity is a writer and a doula, supporting women in pregnancy, birth and in the postnatal period. Her main areas of interest are feminist parenting, how mothering and feminism intersect as political and personal identities and the rights of pregnant, birthing and breastfeeding women. Through her voluntary work with organisations like AIMS and Doula UK, Amity actively campaigns for and writes about the need to provide better support to all new parents, particularly those most vulnerable and underprivileged.
Lara Williams is a writer and copywriter from Manchester. She has previously contributed to Comment Is Free and numerous other sites and publications. She has been involved in numerous women’s projects and activism in Manchester, including volunteering with Manchester Rape Crisis, the Manchester Object Support Group, Ladyfest and Million Women Rise. She is currently studying a Creative Writing MA.
I will be moderating comments on posts by Amity Reed and Carrie Dunn will be moderating comments on posts by Lara Williams. I’m looking forward to interesting posts and lively discussions!
