Alex Burnett is a political and social historian of the 20th century United States and a PhD. student in the joint History & Women’s & Gender Studies program at the University of Michigan. Alex’s research explores queer and trans politics, racial capitalism, the family, cities, and the US carceral and welfare states from 1945 to the present. Outside of the classroom, Alex is a steward with Graduate Employees’ Organization (GEO), AFT Local 3550 and a graduate researcher with The Carceral State Project at the University of Michigan.
